Canadian Centre for Language and Cultural Studies

How to Register for LINC

New Students - if you have never been in a LINC class before
Returning Student - if you were in LINC before but you have been away
LINC transfer - if you are at another LINC school now but you want to come to CCLCS

New Students

All new students must go through the YMCA for testing and registering.

Step 1 -- make the appointment

Choose a YMCA location where you can register and take the language assessment test; there are three:

Downtown,
Scarborough
North York

Visit YMCA - Assessment Centres to find locations and times. Then call 416-925-5462 to make an appointment and be sure to tell them which assessment centre you want.

Step 2 -- test and register

At the YMCA, you will:

  1. Register (bring your Permanent Resident Card and another piece of identification)
  2. Take a language assessment test

The person that gives you the test (the Assessor) can give you advice if you need part-time classes or if you prefer another location or if you need child care.

Step 3 - we receive your information

If there is space in a CCLCS classroom, the person at the YMCA will put your name on the class list and you can start right away (they send us the information). If the class is full, your name will go on the waiting list. When there is space, we will contact you.

Returning to LINC

Contact the YMCA LINC-Assessment Centre where you took your language test. If you have not been in LINC for more than 6 months, you will have to do the test again (like a new student). If the class is full, your name will go on the waiting list. When there is space, we will contact you IF THERE ARE NO NEW STUDENTS ON THE LIST.

LINC Transfer

Contact the YMCA LINC-Assessment Centre where you took your language test. If the class is full, your name will go on the waiting list. When there is space, we will contact you IF THERE ARE NO RETURNING STUDENTS ON THE LIST.
