TESL Ontario with Advanced Standing

The 181-hour TESL Ontario Program (with advanced standing) consists of:

  • 110-hour core course
  • 5 hours of observation in any adult ESL school    
  • 21 hour Pronunciation module - 7 evenings
  • 5 hour Anti-Discrimination Workshop (Saturday)
  • 10 hours (two Saturdays) of CALL (Computer Assisted Language Learning)
  • 5 hour Professional Development Workshop (Saturday)
  • practicum (one week/daytime/25 hours) at CCLCS

Advanced Standing Consists of:
    

  • completed a TESL Canada program from CCLCS  (minimum of a 100 hour core class)  

        OR

  • completed a TESL Canada or equivalent program recognized by TESL Canada from an institution other than CCLCS*


* TESL programs completed at other institutions prior to the year 2000 need to be assessed by TESL Canada.

* Students with TESL Canada or equivalent courses completed at other institutions after the year 2000 need to have the program components listed below:

  • at least 5 hours of observation in a LINC classroom
  • completed a 25 hour practicum
  • Canadian Language Benchmarks - LINC Curriculum

Any missing components must be completed at CCLCS before finishing the 181 hour TESL Ontario program.

All applicants from outside CCLCS must supply a communicative lesson plan based on a grammar point before they will be allowed to register into the course.

The TESL Ontario 181-hour program takes at least 3 months to complete full-time and 5-7 months to complete part-time.
    
Upon successful completion of the program, students submit their previous certificates/transcripts, proof of a university degree and their CCLCS transcripts to TESL Ontario for accreditation.
