Using Audio & Video Communicatively

March 23, 2013 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Instructor: Yuliya Desyatova, CCLCS LINC Instructor

We will go far beyond the passive comprehension and multiple-choice questions that make up many traditional resources. The workshop will help you make listening lessons more engaging, interactive, and rewarding. After the lesson-planning and activity design practice, you will be better prepared to meet the communication needs of your students.

You will leave with some ready-to-use hand-outs to support your class work with a number of popular movies and documentaries, as well as a bank of activity patterns easily applicable to almost any audio or video material.

Everyone is welcome to bring any listening/ video resources that might be interesting for us to look at and work with!

Business English Workshop

Instructor:  Vincent Duchesne

Before embarking on his lifelong dream of teaching, Vincent Duchesne had over 15 years of experience in the business field, including account manager, brand development manager, and president of a marketing company.

Vincent has merged his two passions to create this Teaching Business English workshop.  The workshop will focus on practical questions:  where can you find business-specific materials?   How can non-business people teach business English? And even, what does "Business English” mean?  Vincent will provide you with teaching tips and ideas for all skill areas, as well as vocabulary and how culture connects to business.

Vincent Duchesne is currently the LINC/OSLT Coordinator at College Boreal.
